Protoje and The Indiggnation Band brought the fire and pure reggae vibes to Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach, Florida, delivering a show that was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment Protoje stepped on stage, the energy was high, the vibes were real, and the connection with the crowd was undeniable.
He opened the set with the reflective and spiritually-charged “I&I,” immediately setting the tone before launching into the explosive “Flames,” a track originally featuring Chronixx that ignited the crowd with its intensity. From there, it was a seamless journey through his rich catalog, touching on gems from his debut album all the way to his latest hits.
“Big 45,” a track currently in heavy rotation, got massive love from the crowd, with its modern sound and powerful message hitting just right. Songs like “Hills,” “Switch It Up” (originally featuring Koffee), “Rasta Love” (with Ky-Mani Marley on the original cut), and “Like Royalty” (featuring dancehall icon Popcaan) were all delivered with passion, precision, and that signature Indiggnation touch. “Like Royalty,” in particular, resonated deeply with the crowd, its message of appreciation and upliftment making it a true sing-along moment.
One of the most powerful moments of the night came during “Hail Rastafari.” As the rhythm pulsed through the speakers, a supporter waved the Ethiopian flag through the crowd—a symbol of Rastafari that lit up the energy in the venue. Protoje, ever in tune with his audience, had Dutty Bookman connect with the flag-waver and welcomed them on stage to proudly hold the banner high. It was a moving tribute and gave the show a spiritual elevation that had the whole place chanting in unity.
Adding to the excitement was a special treat for fans—an unreleased track titled “Feel It,” which was met with a wave of enthusiasm. Judging by the crowd’s reaction, this one is destined to become another favorite in Protoje’s arsenal.
If there’s one critique, it’s that the set could have gone on longer. The crowd was locked in from start to finish and clearly craving more when the final notes rang out. But that’s a testament to the magnetic performance Protoje and The Indiggnation Band consistently deliver.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to his music, this show was a clear reminder of why Protoje is one of the most respected voices in reggae today. His ability to blend roots, modern influences, and conscious lyricism while keeping the energy high is unmatched.
